The second enclosure is rendered light-tight from the first by a door 51 so that the first enclosure can be opened for the removal and insertion of cassettes while a film sheet is being transported through the second enclosure. Cassette opening.-A pawl 21 releases the cassette catch 19, and a pawl 31 engages under the lid 18. Pawl 31 is mounted on a bell crank 26 and by pivoting the crank about 27 using a captive nut 28 and rotating screw 29 the lid is raised. As it does so a yoke 44 on the carriage is swung about 46 so that clamping members 42 on the yoke, move under the sheet edge. The carriage moves back to its original position, presenting the sheet edge through the open door 51 to feed rollers 52 in the second enclosure 9. Feeding the sheet.-Rollers 52 feed the film sheet at a faster rate than infeed rollers 5 in the processor 3. Rollers 53, 54 are idle therefore the sheet accumulates in the enclosure 9. The door 51 can be closed after the trailing sheet edge has entered enclosure 9 and enclosure 8 can be opened for the insertion of a further cassette. Manual operation.-Rollers 52 may be separated and loose film, not in a cassette, fed through the apparatus manually.
