Abstract
1501005 Photothermographic material EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 May 1975 [2 May 1974] 18493/75 Heading G2C A sensitive photothermographic material comprises a support coated on one side with a composition containing (a) a photographic silver halide, (b) an image-forming combination comprising (i) a silver salt of a heterocyclic thione of the Formula wherein R represents atoms which complete an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic nucleus having a 5-membered heterocyclic ring and Z is an alkylene group having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and (ii) an organic reducing agent therefor, and (c) a toner which is a mercapto-heterocyclic compound which gives by a specified test procedure, a #D value of from zero to 0À21, the components of the composition being disposed in one or more layers. Preferred mercapto-heterocyclic compounds are: 3-mercapto-1, 2, 4-triazole; 3-imino-5-thiourazole; 4-methyl-, 4-phenyl or 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-dithiourazoles; 2, 4-dimercapto-pyrimidine; 8-mercaptopurine; 2, 6-dimercapto-purine. The value of #D depends on the difference between the blue light reflection density and the visual reflection density of an exposed and developed photothermographic material of specified composition (including 3-carboxymethyl-4-methyl-4-thiazoline- 2-thione silver salt). The specified components may be distributed in two or more layers. R in Formula I can complete thiazoline-2-thione, benzothiazoline-2-thione, imidazoline-2-thione and oxazoline-2-thione nuclei, thiones such as those referred to in Specification 1427966 being useful.
