Abstract

1500945 Dialysis apparatus ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 3 April 1975 [4 April 1974] 13707/75 Heading BIX A dialysis apparatus comprises an assembly of chambers 5, each chamber being formed of partition walls composed of a resin film or sheet 3 and containing at least one bundle of semi-permeable hollow fibres 1, the ends of the fibres being bonded in a liquid-tight connection to the respective end portions 4 of the chamber with the fibre ends open, the chambers being stacked one against another with their bundles of fibres substantially parallel, the open ends of each bundle of fibres being connected at one end of the assembly with an inlet 7 and at the other end an outlet 7' for the liquid to be dialysed, there being openings 8 and 8' through the outermost partition walls of the first and last chambers and through all the contacting partition walls at staggered locations 2, so that dialysate flows sequentially through the openings and the stacked chambers. Reference is made to the use of the apparatus for dialysis of blood. The hollow fibres may be of cuprammonium cellulose, acetyl cellulose or polyacrylonitrile.
