1500249 2-Phenoxy-5-nitrobenzoic anhydrides MOBIL OIL CORP 20 Sept 1976 [1 Oct 1975] 38932/76 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where n is 1-3 and X is halogen, nitro, C 1-4 alkyl, trifluoromethyl or cyano. The compounds of the above formula may be made by reacting the appropriate benzoic acid with its halide in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor. Herbicidal compositions comprise the compounds of the invention and a suitable carrier therefore.
