Description
(54) ELECTRONIC AUTO-CONTROL SAFETY DEVICE
(71) I, PHILIP FAHEY, of 18 The
Courts, Westbrook, Margate, Kent and of
British nationality do hereby declare the invention, for which I pray that a patent may be granted to me, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following state ment :- This safety device is to be used on all road and rail vehicles which have been fitted with air vacuum brakes. For this invention to be operative it is necessary for all road vehicles and railway rolling stock to be fitted with a micro wave transmitter and a photo transistor receiving circuit. The transmitter would project an infra-red signal (alternating light at any frequency say 50 c/s) and collect the reflected infra red beam using a photo transistor circuit designed to accept an alternating signal.
This circuit would then provide an amplified signal capable of operating the vehicle vacuum brake cylinder and having a vehicle in the rear to a halt within a specified distance.
In the case of railways the same proce dure operates as stated alone. However where a station is situated before a dead end as Moorgate Station a signal post would have to be fitted with a micro wave transmitter which would project a micro wave signal and the reflected beam would operate an air valve controlling the vacuum brake cylinder and bring the train to a halt, thereby preventing the train from hitting the dead end.
WHAT I CLAIM IS:
Collision avoidance apparatus substantially as described with reference to the
accompanying drawings.
