Abstract

Water, distilling evaporators and condensers in structural combination. - In distilling water, heated air is mixed with the steam entering the condenser so as to aerate the distillate. Steam from an evaporator 10 passes through tubes 32 which project through the distillate reservoir 12 into the tubes 14 of a condenser 13, and is mixed with air entering by pipes 37 from a heater 35 contained in the evaporator. Filtered air may be supplied to the heater by a pump 49 which may be controlled by a thermostat 47 in the steam. space. The water from the condenser 13 is led by a pipe 19 to a constant-level feed-device 21 on the evaporator. The air-heater 35 may be supplied with air through vertical pipes opening in the base of the evaporator 10, and may be in the form of a ring, which may be of rectangular section and secured to the wall of the evaporator, and provided with radial or cross pipes.
