Description

(54) PARTY CRACKER (71) I GEORGE BERTRAM POWELL, of Quay House, Brockweir, Chepstow, Gwent NP6 7HQ, formerly of 58, Warwick Road, Solihull, West Midlands B92 7JJ, a British subject, do hereby declare the invention for which I pray that a patent may be granted to me, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: The present invention relates to a party cracker as described in British Patent Specification No. 38518/76 (Serial No.
1 562 815) cognated from specifications Nos.
38838/76, 43626/76, 47185/76, 1258/77 and 1630/77.
According to one aspect of the present invention a party cracker comprises a sealed gas-filled container divided into a plurality of distinct inter-connected parts, each sealed from the remainder and readily rupturable by manual squeezing, and wherein said inter-connected parts are maintained in a predetermined mutual relationship by joining the remote ends of the container.
The joining of the remote ends of the inter-connected parts may be by means of knots or heat sealing or other suitable means, the construction would facilitate the wearing of the cracker by the user.
The division into separate inter-connected parts may be by twisting portions of the container in opposite directions to form twisted regions, the joining of the remote ends then preventing untwisting of the twisted regions.
The division into said parts may also be effected by heat sealing, and the said parts may subsequently be twisted in opposite directions at the point of heat sealing. The twisting process will reduce the overall volume of the said parts without affecting the quantity of gas enclosed, and so facilitate subsequent rupturing.
From a further aspect of the invention, a kit may be provided for use in making a party cracker comprising a suitable container of flexible material adapted to be filled with gas and sealed and means provided for joining the remote ends of the container, so that after the introduction of gas into the container and division into a plurality of adjacent mutually sealed interconnected parts, the joining of the remote ends acts to retain the parts in a predetermined mutual relationship.
The invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the container filled with gas and sealed; Figure 2 shows the finished cracker of figure 1 with a twisted region and having the remote ends joined; Figure 3 shows an embodiment of the cracker with the container of figure 1 having a multiplicity of divisions, and the remote ends joined.
Referring to Figure 1 of the drawings, this shows a gas-filled container 1 sealed by suitable means 2 and with small novelties 3 inserted before sealing.
Referring to Figure 2, the container 1 is divided into halves by twisting in opposite directions, until the gas within the container is under a slight pressure, and the two remote ends then being joined by a knot or suitable means 4.
Referring to Figure 3, this shows a multiplicity of twisted regions, retained by joining the remote ends by a suitable means 4.
When it is desired to use the cracker, the container can be used to provide a cracker effect by squeezing one or both parts of the container. This will be accompanied by a loud report, releasing the novelties therein.
The joining of the remote ends of the cracker may conveniently facilitate the passing of the cracker around the body of the user, as for example, around the head, either before or after the rupturing of the container.
WHAT I CLAIM IS: 1. A party cracker comprises a sealed gas-filled container divided into a plurality of distinct inter-connected parts, each sealed from the remainder and readily rupturable by manual squeezing and wherein said inter-connected parts are maintained in a predetermined mutual relationship by joining the remote ends of the container.
2. A claim according to claim 1 wherein the cracker is divided into said parts by twisting portions of the container in opposite directions to form twisted regions, the joining of the remote ends then acting to prevent untwisting of the said regions.
3. A cracker according to any one of claims 1 or 2 wherein the container is divided into said parts and subsequentIy twisted.
4. A cracker according to claim 3 wherein the division of the container into said parts is effected by heat sealing.
5. A cracker according to any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the cracker is of such dimensions as to enable it to be worn.
6. A party cracker substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to figures 1, 2, or 3 of the accompanying drawings.
7. A kit of parts for use in making a party cracker comprises at least one container of flexible material adapted to be filled with gas and sealed and being readily rupturable by manual squeezing when so filled with gas, and where after division of the container into a plurality of adjacent mutually sealed inter-connecting parts, the remote ends can be joined to - retain the said parts in a predetermined mutual relationship.
8. A method of manufacturing a party cracker whereby a readily rupturable container of flexible material is filled with gas, divided into mutually sealed inter-connected parts by twisting the container and these said parts are retained in a predetermined mutual relationship by joining the remote ends of the container.
