Abstract

155,157. Cook, T. March 11, 1920. Baling - presses.- The baling - press claimed in Specification 154,949 is provided with means for holding the platen at any position of its traverse consisting of a free-wheel device b, e, carried by the driving-shaft a, the element e having a notch engageable by a pin h on a handlever j to prevent backward rotation of the shaft. When the pin is raised, the free - wheel device rotates with h the shaft. To allow the platen to descend in case it is not heavy enough to drive the gear train backwards, the train is adapted to be driven backwards by a pulley v adapted to engage a part x of the loose pulley p. The pulley v is carried by a shaft having a pinion t in engagement with a gear-wheel u and is carried by an eccentric sleeve operated by a handle w to bring it into and out of engagement with the loose pulley.
