Abstract

154,396. Newman, T. F. Oct. 4, 1919. Vaporizers, atmospheric.-A vaporizer for diffusing the vapour of volatile oils and disinfectants into the atmosphere of rooms comprises a liquid-container c enclosed within a perforated outer receptacle a, the intervening space being packed with coke, sandal wood chips, sawdust, or other absorbent material which is kept saturated with the liquid by means of a wick h passing through a tube g. The inner vessel may be replenished by means of a tube d extending to a filling aperture e closed by a screw stopper. The outer receptacle a is preferably imperforate at the lower part and at the back, to prevent leakage of the liquid, and is formed with a perforated metal or wire gauze panel in front. According to the Provisional Specification the absorbent material may consist of wood chips pickled in creosote, or of absorbent fibre.
