Abstract
1438510 Rolling mill rolls; jointing MORGARDSHAMMAR AB 9 July 1973 [7 July 1972] 32541/73 Headings B3M and B3V A composite rolling mill roll, Fig. 3, includes a ring 1 of wear-resistant material, e.g. cemented carbide or ceramic, mounted on a driving shaft or sleeve 2 and held in place by support rings 3 acting against its side surfaces. The ring 1 is a push fit on the shaft or sleeve, but the support rings are positioned by a force fit or shrinkage fit such that they produce a compressive force on the ring 1. The support rings may be relieved both axially and radially, Fig. 6, adjacent the ring 1, and may be tapered to produce a radial compressive force. Alternatively, Fig. 7, a tapered sleeve 4 may hold the three rings in place. One of the support rings 3 may be formed integrally with the shaft or sleeve 2.
