Abstract

1438591 Growing bacteria on dairy effluents AGENCE NATIONALE DE VALORISATION DE LA RECHERCHE 30 May 1973 [8 June 1972] 25714/73 Heading C6F [Also in Divisions A2 C1 and C3] Dairy effluents containing lactose are fermented, whereby to eliminate most (ca. 80% or more) of the sugar content, with a non-pathogenic, aerobic, proteolytic bacterial strain producing #- galactosidase or lactose-oxidase in a container at a temperature of from 20 to 37‹C and the bacterial matter produced, which so rich in protein, is separated from the fermentation liquor. Strains of Enterobacter liquefaciens, Enterobacter Cloacae and Serratia atypique were employed according to the Examples, the dairy effluent being undiluted neutral milk serum obtained by the action of rennet, or acid milk serum, derived from lactic fermentation, that had been neutralized by the addition of ammonia before use.
