Abstract
1438430 Coating composition FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 5 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 38871/74 Heading C3B A powder coating composition comprises a mixture of: (I) a copolymer prepared from (by wt.) 5-20% of a glycidyl ester of a monoethylenically unsaturated acid, 2-10% of an α,#-olefinically unsaturated amide and 70-93% of other monoethylenic monomers, having glass transition temp. 40-90‹ C. and number average M.W. 1500-15,000; (II) a monomeric or polymeric dicarboxylic anhydride curing agent to provide 0À3-1À2 anhydride groups per functional group (i.e. epoxy+amide) in I; and (III) a hydroxycarboxylic acid (m.p. 40-150‹ C.) to provide 0À1-0À4 OH groups and 0À1-0À4 COOH groups per functional group of I. Flow control agents, cross-linking catalysts and pigments may also be present.
