Abstract

1437318 Valves H BAUER 19 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 7400/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] In a rotary compressor plant wherein the delivery from a meshing screw or sliding vane compressor 1 passes to a consumer 10 through an oil separator 8, switching off of the compressor drive causes an automatically controlled valve 16 to move to a position in which it prevents oil collected in the separator from returning, via a line 11, to the compressor's working chamber and simultaneously exhausts gas trapped in the separator between non- return valves 14, 15. The valve 16, Fig. 3, comprises a valve spool 18<SP>1</SP> normally urged by the delivery pressure in a line 26, 26<SP>1</SP> to a rightward position in which a conical end 38 closes an exhaust passageway 31<SP>1</SP> connected by a line 23, 23<SP>1</SP> to the separator. In the rightward position a passageway 30<SP>1</SP> for the returning oil is open. When the compressor drive is switched off the delivery pressure in the line 26, 26<SP>1</SP> falls, whereby a spring 41 and the separator pressure in the line 23, 23<SP>1</SP> causes the spool to move to the left and open the exhaust passageway 23<SP>1</SP> and close the oil return passageway 30<SP>1</SP>. In a second embodiment a valve 16 having opposite ends subjected to the delivery and separator pressure, respectively, has a pair of lands, one for controlling the oil return passageway and the other the separator exhaust passageway.
