Abstract

1436874 Counting sheets DAI NIPPON PRINTING CO Ltd 30 July 1973 [29 July 1972 5 June 1973] 36079/73 Heading G1N [Also in Division G4] For counting a pile of sheets a probe 36 extends from a housing 33 containing a Piezo-electric crystal 43 attached at its opposite ends e, f to the probe whereby as the housing 33 is drawn down the sloping edge of the pile a the probe vibrates and the crystal issues electric pulses which can be counted. The crystal and probe are clamped together at f and joined by a rubber block 44 at e and they are mounted to the housing by rubber blocks 39, 40. The crystal comprises a pair of ceramic plates 48, 49 attached to a metal reinforcing plate 50 and coated with damp proofing paint 47. The crystal feeds an amplifier and shaping monostable and thence to a counter circuit.
