Abstract

1436129 Inductors and transformer THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 Feb 1974 [12 April 1973] 17707/73 Heading HIT [Also in Division H2] A lamp starting circuit comprises a choke having windings 11, 12 in the form of flattened loops joined in series and coupled in flux opposition on a common laminated shell core 13, and at least one auxiliary similar core 14 embracing one of the windings only. The windings may be of different lengths but of the same width, as shown, or of different lengths and widths with one winding within the other (Fig. 2, not shown), or may be identical both in shape and in their number of turns (Fig. 3, not shown). In the last-mentioned case, there is one auxiliary core associated with each winding (54, 55). The cores are assembled from magnetic laminations based on variations of E-E or E-I combinations. Core 13 comprises two E- laminations 15, 16 with an insulating spacer 17. Core 14 is provided with a similar spacer (24). Some specific lamp starter and operating circuits are disclosed (Figs. 5-7, not shown, see Division H2).
