Abstract

1435383 Linkwork ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 26 April 1973 [26 April 1972 27 July 1972] 19945/73 Heading F2K [Also in Division F4] An adjusting arrangement for the reflector 10 of a motor vehicle headlamp mounted in a supporting frame 17 for pivotal displacement about a horizontal axis, comprises a lever arrangement which includes a first lever 30 acting on a portion of the reflector 10 and a second lever 23 connected to the first lever 30 by a link 33 and actuatable in response to load variations by an adjusting member 41, the fulcrum of the second lever, pin 21, being fixed relative to the frame 17 and the first lever 30 being pivoted as an adjustable link nut 31 mounted on an adjusting screw 38 by means of which the initial setting of the reflector can be adjusted. The pivot pin 21 of the adjusting lever 23 has a transverse bore 22 therethrough and is supported on bracket 20 fixed to frame 17. A resilient link 28 acts on the reflector 10 and engages the end 29 of actuating lever 30, the other end of which lever extends beyond the link nut 31 as an arm 32 which is coupled by pins 26 and link plate 33 to the second arm 25 of adjusting lever 23, the latter also being connected to the reflector 10 by a tension spring 36. The adjusting screw 38 is supported in a clearance opening 37 in frame 17 and its threaded shaft 40 engages the tapped bore in link nut 31 and passes through the clearance bore 22 in pin 21. Fig. 3 shows diagrammatically the operation of the devicewith the reflector axis at O-O the reflector is in the position defined by link 28. If now the adjusting member 41 displaces lever 23 to position 42 then link 28 pivots into position 43 to move the reflector axis to O<SP>1</SP>-O<SP>1</SP>. Basic adjustment of the headlamp reflector is effected by rotation of the adjusting screw 38 as a result of which the link 28 moves towards the positions 46 or 47. This adjustment is independent of the load-dependent adjustment. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4, the double-armed actuating lever 69, pivoted on adjustable link nut 87, terminates in yokes 73 at each end which engage respectively with a ball head 74 fixed on the reflector 10 and a pin 75 acted on by push rod 76 which in turn is acted on by a bellcrank lever 77 adjustable in response to the load variations.
