Abstract

1435282 Lamps SINGER CO 24 June 1974 [2 July 1973] 27862/74 Heading F4R A signal beacon comprises a housing 12, a converging lens 14, preferably of the fresnel type, disposed in the housing, a light source 19 located on the optical axis of the lens and spaced from the lens by a distance greater than the focal length thereof, a reflector 21, preferably of elliptical curvature, positioned adjacent the source to direct light towards the lens, a lenticulated light-transmissive screen 25 disposed between the source and the focal plane of the lens, and aperture-defining means 26 in the vicinity of the focal plane. The screen 25 approximates to a mosaic of condesner lenses and is made by uniformly stippling both sides of a flat glass plate, its purpose being to give the light a scintillating appearance. The means 26 comprises a spherical frustum 28 the smaller opening 30 of which can be adjustably masked by four spherical segments 32-35 slidable on the frustum and held in frictional engagement therewith by spring biasing mechanisms 38. A colour filter 18 is disposed in front of the lens.
