1434571 Degradable thermoplastics compositions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Sept 1974 [4 Oct 1973] 46379/73 Addition to 1342622 Heading C3P Degradable thermoplastics compositions comprise (1) an iron salt of a C 3-30 organic acid as prodegradant and (2) 2-hydroxy-4-octyloxybenzophenone, 2 - (2<SP>1</SP>- hydroxy - 3<SP>1 </SP>- t - butyl- 5<SP>1</SP> - methylphenyl) - 5 - chlorobenzotriazole and/or 2<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - di - t - butylphenyl 3,5 - di - tbutyl - 4 - hydroxybenzoate as UV - stabilizer. The compositions may contain conventional stabilizers, e.g. 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-alkylphenols, and anti-blocking slip and antistatic additives. The polymer may be polyethylene and the prodegradant may be ferric stearate.
