Abstract

1434361 Rear view mirrors SURREY STEEL COMPONENTS Ltd and J S CONN 10 May 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 6536/72 Heading B7J [Also in Division E2] In a pivotal mounting for an external rear view mirror 16 a location member in the form of a semicircular guide hoop 17 of spring wire is connected to a bracket 11 secured to a support surface (e.g. the body of a vehicle) the mounting for the mirror comprises an outrig frame 10 pivotally connected to upper and lower mounting brackets 11, 12 and a rotor member 19 is pivotally mounted on an upper arm 13 of the frame, the rotor member 19 being provided with lobes 20 one of which engages a recess 18 in the guide loop 17 to retain the frame 10 in a desired position. When a predetermined movement is applied to the arm 10 the rotor is rotated so that the lobe 20 disengages from the recess 18 and movement of the frame 10 is permitted over the location member 17. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the rotor is a snap fit on the arm and in a further alternative embodiment, Figs. 6-8 inclusive (not shown), the rotor comprises two separate members joined together to grip the arm therebetween.
