Abstract

1434085 Pigmented polymers COSDEN TECHNOLOGY Inc 8 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 37662/73 Headings C3B C3R and C3P [Also in Divisions B1-B2] Pigmented particulate polymers are prepared by first reducing solid polymers to a fine powder and then mixing the dry particulate polymer with dry powdered pigment in a high-speed rotating blade mixer operated at a blade tip speed >200 inches per second for periods up to 2¢ minutes. The polymer may be an epoxy resin, polyester, nylon, polymethyl methacrylate, polypropylene or ABS. The products may be used in coating, esp. by electrostatic deposition or in mouldings where it may be prior extruded in the form of pellets.
