Abstract

1434052 Automatic control of lighting THORN LIGHTING Ltd 1 May 1974 [7 March 1973] 11103/73 Addition to 1277205 Heading G3N [Also in Division F4] A control apparatus as disclosed in Specification 1277205 is modified in that output stores are arranged in groups, and when a particular group is selected each of a plurality of mechanical input devices is connected with a respective store in the selected group. The apparatus is used for the remote control of luminaires Fig. 1 (not shown) in a television studio, each group of stores corresponding to a particular luminaire and the input devices corresponding to the pan, tilt, focus, vertical and horizontal beam width and brightness settings being provided in a model luminaire Fig. 2 (not shown). A luminaire is selected by selector 82 and under normal conditions an error detector 78 is used to reset the input devices in the model in accordance with the actual settings of that luminaire; when an operator moves an input device, this is detected by a corresponding proximity detector P.D. and the detector 78 changes the control signal in the corresponding store in buffer store 76 and thereby alters the luminaire setting in accordance with the model. When all the luminaires have been set to a desired condition, a record of this may be transferred from a core store 75 to a file store (not shown) for subsequent use, as disclosed in Specification 1171916.
