Abstract

1433763 Transfer printing SUBLISTATIC HOLDINGS SA 11 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 42733/73 Heading D1B Transfers used in transfer printing are provided by applying to a base sheet e.g. polypropylene, polyethylene, or regenerated cellulose film or paper, a dye e.g. a disperse or basic dye which sublimes at 160 to 220‹C and an agent which absorbs infra-red radiation. The infra-red absorbing agent may be an N-tetraphenylbenzoquinone-diammonium salt, or a ferrous or ferric dhelate of a nitrosonaphthol. Mixtures of dyes particularly anthraquinones may be employed. The transfer may comprise a base-sheet which is transparent to infra-red rays the agent which absorbs infra-red radiation separating the coloured layer from the base-Sheet. The coloured layer may contain a binder of melting point above 220‹C e.g. an ester or ether of a polysaccharide or a cellulose ether of a C1 to C4 aliphatic alcohol. Synthetic materials e.g. polyamides, polyesters and polyacrylonitrile.
