Abstract

1433112 Presses US INDUSTRIES Inc and HITACHI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 10 June 1974 25676/74 Heading B5F [Also in Division B3] A drive linkage for the slide 7 of a press, e.g. a metal drawing press, has a toggle linkage 8a, 8b whose pivot 9 is connected by a link 15 to one arm 13 of a bell-crank lever whose other arm 11 is pivoted to a pair of parallel links 10 on a pair of eccentrics. A larger eccentric 6 is provided between the eccentrics to drive the toggle linkage 8a, 8b. The resultant slide reciprocation produces a relatively slow approach to lower dead centre and a fast return to top dead centre.
