1432311 Drainage pouch MARLEN MFG & DEVELOPMENT CO 1 March 1974 [13 March 1973] 9427/74 Heading A5R A drainage pouch comprises a flat bag 10 having adjacent one end a first opening 18 for receiving a patient's stoma, the other end of the bag having a narrow, hollow neck 20 which at its distal end defines a second opening connectable to a drainage conduit, and a relatively rigid tube 27 projecting from the second opening within and through neck 20 and terminating in the bag beyond neck 20 to prevent inadvertent collapse or folding of the neck. Bag 10 is made of two sheets of elastomeric material, e.g. transparent or opaque vinyl plastics, joined together at their edges. The bag is secured to the patient by a supporting device including a body-engaging plate surrounding opening 18. A push-to-close, pullto-open outlet valve 21 is sealed to the outlet end of neck 20 at 22. Flexible tube 25 leads to a drainage container. Apertures 29 are formed in tube 27 to prevent stagnation of fluid in the annular chamber defined by the tube and the neck, alternatively the neck portion may be sealed to the tube's outer surface to eliminate the annular chamber.
