Abstract
1432065 Filtering hot slurries RASA SHOJI KK and NIPPON KOKAN KK 14 May 1973 [22 May 1972] 22899/73 Heading BID [Also in Division F4] An apparatus for filtering a hot slurry of granular material comprises a container 1 having an upper wire screen portion 1a and a lower hopper portion 1b, a central wire screen duct 4 extending through the container 1 and overlapping heat exchange elements 5 surrounding portion 1a. In use, liquid filtering through portion 1a is cooled as it flows down elements 5 and is discharged into duct 6 which connects with duct 7 which also recieves liquid filtering into duct 4. Ducts 8 discharge the granules. Vapour is vented out of the top of duct 4. The slurry may be made by solidifying molten slag in water and then subdividing the slag.
