Abstract

1429644 Vehicle sun visors MORGAN SOFT-TRIM Ltd 23 July 1973 [11 May 1972] 22262/72 Heading B7J A vehicle sun visor has a frame formed with a bore into which a support 8 is swivelly received, the support having a bracket portion 10 for mounting on the vehicle and a shaft portion 9 which enters the bore, the shaft portion having three cams 15, 16, 17 formed thereon which have semi-cylindrical surfaces radially offset from the cylindrical shaft portion surface with alternate cams on opposite sides of the shaft portion, the axes of the shaft portion and cam surfaces being coincident. The shaft portion enters the bore with axial distortion providing a frictional interference fit for restraining the visor in any set position. The cams may alternately be lobes or circular eccentrics having centres offset from the shaft portion axis. The bore is formed in an elongate steel pressing 3 forming with wire 2 the visor frame covered with a padded fabric 4. The support may be moulded from plastics and be either integral or formed of two parts. The bore may have a cross-section which permits the shaft portion to relax in at least one rotational position, the bore being oval or having at least one longitudinal groove.
