Abstract

1429475 Mould clamps BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO Ltd 22 May 1973 [23 May 1972] 24165/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division E2] A mould member 76 is clamped to a mould carrier 10 by a clamp member 30 which is movable to and from a clamping position and held in that position by locking means 42 (Fig. 2). The invention is applied to a machine for injection moulding shoe bottom units, e.g. of elastomeric foam material in a cavity 92 closed by a second mould member 88. One end of the mould member 76 is located by a fixed peg 18 engaging in a bore 80 in the mould member. The other end is held by the clamp member 30 which comprises a peg 36 engaging in a bore 84 in the mould member 76. The peg 36 is carried by an upstanding position 34 of a strip member 32 which slides in a lower portion 28 of a slideway 24. The locking means 42 comprises a roller 68 biased by a spring 56 and cam member 64 into frictional engagement with the strip member 32. The roller 68 is located in a hole 66 in a plate 46 which is slidable in a slideway 44 in the carrier member 10. The locking means can be released by sliding the plate 46 to the right in Fig. 1 by moving a lever 70 in the direction of arrow A. Fig. 3 (not shown) shows a modification in which the spring 56 is dispensed with and the plate 46 is moved to the left and right by screw means (100).
