Abstract

1427319 Digital data transmission systems PLESSEY CO Ltd 1 May 1973 [4 May 1972] 20866/72 Heading H4P A "store and forward" communication system in which data is transmitted in the form of messages between switching nodes which are interconnected by links and wherein the transmission of a message between nodes not directly connected is via intermediate nodes at which the message is temporarily stored is characterized in that the nodes are arranged to feed messages into the system at intervals determined by the transmission time of previous messages through the system. The system is arranged to receive a predetermined number of messages initially and thereafter to feed subsequent messages into the system at the predetermined intervals. The messages include data indicative of the delays incurred at intermediate nodes so that a destination node receives data from which the total transmission time may be determined.
