Abstract

1425971 Uses of luminescence INSTRUMENTATION SPECIALTIES CO 25 April 1973 [5 June 1972] 19683/73 Heading C4S [Also in Divisions F4 and G1] A filter for converting U.V. radiation to green light comprises a tubular casing 76 containing a quartz window 90, a light filtering liquid 88 which transmits light having a wavelength longer than 280 nm., a filter element 82 of red purple silica which transmits U.V. and absorbs green light, a fluorescent phosphor 86 which emits green light when irradiated with U.V. light having a wavelength in the range 280-290 nm., a filter element 84 which transmits green light and absorbs U.V. light, and a retaining ring 96. Further materials are disclosed, and also phosphors for a light intensity balancer (32), e.g. Fig. 3 (not shown).
