Abstract
1425618 Charging gas generators MOTALA VERKSTAD AB 8 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 27479/73 Heading F4B Charge material is fed into a gas generator operating at high pressure by a feeder which compresses the material to prevent escape of gas from the generator. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the feeder comprises a housing 9 having an inlet 10 and outlet 11 and housing pistons 12, 13 which are movable by doubleacting rams 14, 15 and which constitute walls of a cell for the material. In operation, material introduced through the inlet 10 is compressed by extending ram 14 and braking rams 15 and is then moved over the outlet 11 and released, Fig. 5 (not shown). In another embodiment, Figs. 1-3 (not shown), the feeder comprises an upright cylindrical housing formed with an upper and lower, angularly spaced, inlet and outlet and the material is compressed between rotary elements as it is transported between the inlet and outlet.
