Abstract

1425270 Cleaning centrifuges KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 13 March 1972 [14 March 1972] 12130/73 Heading B2P In a centrifuge for separating solids from liquid and comprising a drum 1 rotataibly mounted in a housing 9, a solids discharge screw 2 in the drum and rotating at a speed different therefrom, an inlet 7 for solids-liquid mixture to be centrifuged, and outlets 5, 6 for centrifuged solids and liquid respectively, the housing being provided with at least one inlet, e.g. 15, 24, and at least one outlet, e.g. 19, 20 for rinsing liquid. A belt pulley 3 serves to drive the drum which in turn drives the screw 2 through planetary gearing 4. Openings in the housing through which the drum shafts 12, 13 extend are provided with seals 14. Valved feed conduits 15 and 16 open respectively into the solids and liquid discharge hoppers 10 and 11 which are provided with valves 17, 18. Valved discharge conduits 19, 20 are arranged on top of the housing 9. Rinsing liquid may further be introduced through the inlet 7 and through another underside inlet located between the hoppers 10 and 11. Hot water, water with cleaning additives or alkaline or acid solutions may be used as rinsing liquid.
