Abstract

1424715 Dental handpieces SIEMENS AG 16 Feb 1973 [16 Feb 1972] 7868/73 Heading A5R [Also in Division F2] A valve 3 adapted for connection in a fluid-supply hose of a dental handpiece comprises a cylindrical body member 16 having inlet 42 and outlet 43 ducts leading to openings 21, 22 respectively in the curved surface and a sleeve-like closure member 20 which is rotatable about the body member and eccentrically biassed thereto by adjustable screws 32 set in an outer sleeve member 7 which is also rotatable to open and close the openings. The chamber formed between the body and closure members is sealed by rubber 0-rings 30, 31. The valve controls the supply of cooling water to the handpiece. Passageways 38 and 39 are provided for conveying spray air and driving air to the handpiece. Provision is also made for electrical connections. A drilling handpiece is described having an electric motor and an external coolant water tube for separate connection to the valve.
