Abstract

1424619 Hygienic pads S Z HIRSCHMAN 4 April 1973 16086/73 Heading A5R An elongated absorbent pad 10 for receiving small amounts of urine or vaginal discharge comprises two lengthwise portions having curved surfaces which differ in curvature from each other, the pad being adapted for location and retention in the interlabia space. In the embodiment shown, the cross-section comprises two overlapping circles, the upper circle, 15, being smaller in radius than the lower one 16. In other embodiments, the crosssection comprises overlapping ellipses (15A), (16A) Fig. 7 (not shown). A string 17 may be attached to facilitate removal. The pad 10 may have a uniform cross-section, or may vary in cross-section along its length, Fig. 9 (not shown), and may have a V-shaped groove, Fig. 10 (not shown) extending along its length, a viscous fluid (23) being disposed therein for dispersing by transverse constriction of the pad during insertion. The fluid may be a lubricant, alone or admixed with deodorants, medications and the like.
