Abstract
1424685 Aerials BICC Ltd 25 Jan 1974 [25 Jan 1973] 3852/73 Heading H4A A radiating co-axial cable 1, Fig. 1, comprises an inner conductor 2, insulation 4, and an outer conductor 3 having a longitudinally extending row of apertures 5 therein. The outer conductor is made from a flat tape in which circular apertures are punched, as shown in Fig. 2. The tape is applied longitudinally to, and folded transversely about, the insulated inner conductor, with its edges either abutting or overlapping. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the apertured tape is transversely crinkled throughout its length before being folded. In another embodiment two rows of apertures are provided, the apertures of the one row being staggered with respect to those of the other (Fig. 3, not shown), and in another embodiment three parallel rows of apertures are provided (Fig. 4, not shown).
