Abstract

1422693 Boring earth by jetting KUMAGAI GUMI CO LTD 30 March 1973 [11 Nov 1972] 15429/73 Heading E1F Apparatus for boring earth comprises a cylindrical body 10 having a rotatable cutter head 12 at one end, a plurality of nozzles 24 supplied with fluid under pressure, and pressure-driven means for exhausting spoil for the excavated pit. The nozzles 24 may be on a stationary ring 30, or, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), may be on alternate arms 22 of the rotary cutter head 12, the remaining arms carrying the blades 20. Material cut by the blades is entrained by water from the nozzles and then drawn upwards in pipes 31 supplied with pressurised air at their lower ends through pipes 32.
