Abstract
1421967 Detergent compositions ETHYL CORP 22 May 1973 24253/73 Heading C5D Gel-resistant liquid detergent compositions comprise (A) an alkali metal, ammonium or ethanolammonium C 12 to C 16 monoolefin sulphonate, (B) at least one of (i) a C 10 to C 14 fatty acid mono- or di-C 1 -C 6 alkanolamide, (ii) a tertiary amine oxide of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R 3 is a saturated aliphatic group having 10 to 20 carbon atoms and (iii) an alkyl ether sulphate having the formula RO(C 2 H 4 O) x SO 3 M wherein R is an alkyl group having 10 to 18 carbon atoms, x is 1 to 5 and M is alkali metal, ammonium or ethanol ammonium, (C) a hydrcxyalkane sulphonate of formula wherein n is 1 to 6 and M<SP>1</SP> is alkali metal, ammonium or ethanol ammonium, and (D) water, the composition containing from about 15% to about 60% by weight of (A) + (B) + (C), the proportions of (A) to (B) being from about 15 : 1 to 1 : 1 on a weight basis and the weight ratio of (A) + (B) : (C) being from about 2 : 1 to 30 : 1. The preferred hydroxyalkane sulphonate is the sodium salt of beta hydroxyethane sulphonic acid. The compositions may comprise a C 1 to C 6 alkanol such as ethyl alcohol. The compositions are intended to reduce gel formation in aqueous olefin sulphonate dishwashing liquids.
