Abstract

1421324 Fibrillation of films WM R STEWART & SONS (HACKLEMAKERS) Ltd 30 Jan 1973 [29 Nov 1971 10 Dec 1971] 55415/71 and 56718/72 Heading B5B Films or tapes of longitudinally oriented synthetic resin are fibrillated by passing them over a roller which has pins on its surface. The film or tape approaches the roller at an angle of 1 to 2¢ degrees to the normal to the roller axis. The pins are arranged in circumferential rows or groups and may be arranged axially either in straight lines or wave patterns. The pins may be inclined towards one end of the roller and/or be set at an angle to the tangent to the roller.
