Abstract

1421040 Structural joints in building frameworks GROUPEMENT D'INTERET ECONOMIQUE POUR LA PROMOTION DU TUBE DANS LA CONSTRUCTION METALLIQUE COMETUBE 9 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16925/73 Heading F2M [Also in Division E2] A joint for a building structure comprising a column 1, to be joined to a number of beams 3 and to another aligned column (not shown) providing an upward extension of the column 1, consists of clamping members 2 each of bent form, so as to extend around a corner of the column 1, and each having a plate 6 welded to the plate within the angle so as to rest on the top of the column 1, the clamping members 2 also having limbs 4 for securing to the beams 3 by bolts passed through aligned apertures 5. Holes 7 may also be provided in the angles of the members 2 which, when the column 1 is filled with concrete, allow surplus concrete to run out. Where a second aligned column is fitted above column 1 the bolts are not tightened until this is in place, whereupon the bolts tighten the clamping annulus on both columns.
