Abstract

1420068 Discharging by fluidization G J LACEY 4 May 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5538/72 Heading B8A Granular material is discharged from a storage container through openings controlled by dampers and communicating with channels which are provided with fluidizing air through openings in adjacent ducts leading from a plenum chamber, the entry of air into the ducts from the plenum chamber also being controlled by dampers. The material then passes on to a conveyer running parallel to the plenum chamber. In the Figure, granular material enters the storage container from a conveyer via outlet 27 and feed shoot 26. Air from a plenum chamber is allowed into ducts 3 when dampers 9 are raised by door pulls 10. The air flows out through openings 6 and down towards the floor and along the floor, carrying fluidized material towards outlets 8, controlled by dampers 18, and on to a conveyer which either discharges the material, e.g. into a vehicle or recirculates it to conveyer outlets 27 and back into the container for conditioning. The apparatus may also be used for drying grain.
