Abstract
1419312 Polyazo dyes SANDOZ Ltd 13 Feb 1973 [15 Feb 1972] 6932/73 Heading C4P The production, by diazotization or by acylation, of dyes which produce a dark green or black hue on leather gives compounds of the structure (I) They contain the bridging group X. In (I) A signifies phenyl, opt.-substd. by lower alkyl, alkoxy, 5-alkyl, -COOH, -SO 3 H, -NO 2 , -OH, halogen, or an unsubstd. or substd. sulphonamide, carbonamide, alkylamino, arylamino or acylamino group; X may be -CONH-, -NHCO-, -CS-NH- or -NHCS-; m is 1 or 2, n is 1 or 2; K signifies the radical of a coupling component (II) or in which R is -NH 2 or -OH, R 1 is H or -SO 3 H, the aromatic rings B and/or D and/or Z 1 and/or Z 2 being otherwise unsubstituted or being further substituted once or twice; and the aromatic rings Z 3 and Z 4 being otherwise unsubstituted, and water soluble salts thereof. The dyes may be used for dyeing or printing substrates consisting of or comprising animal, vegetable or synthetic fibres, e.g. natural or synthetic polyamides and polypeptides such as wool, silk, nylon and cotton, and especially leather. Black, blue or green dyeings are obtained. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,327,914 and 1,327,915.
