Abstract
1419000 Calcium carbonate LION FAT & OIL CO Ltd and OKUTAMA KAKO CO Ltd 27 Feb 1973 [3 March 1972] 9554/73 Heading C1A A calcite-type calcium carbonate, suitable as a filler for synthetic resins, is prepared by reacting together a 1 to 25 wt. per cent suspension of calcium hydroxide in water with a gas containing 5 to 100 vol. per cent carbon dioxide in an aqueous solution of calcium bicarbonate in which some calcium carbonate is suspended and regulating the pH of this solution in the range of from 4 to 10. The calcium carbonate formed is filtered off and is an angular calcite type having a grain size of 1-7 Á and a smooth surface.
