Abstract

1418971 Stop motions TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT KHLOPCHATOBUMAZHNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 18 May 1973 23706/73 Heading D1E A travelling wave shed loom having a series of plates which with the weft carrier drive constitute a carrier passage, includes a resiliently mounted switch member which when a carrier encounters an obstacle yields to increased pressure to stop the loom with the carrier in said passage. In one embodiment. Fig 1 an arm 14 resiliently mounted on the shuttle by a leafspring 17 is pivoted inwardly when it encounters an obstacle moving conducting wires 10 out of a groove 12 in the shuttle. A circuit between the two series of plates 1 and 1a which have an electric potential between them is thereby completed to stop the loom. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 5, the shuttle guide plates are pivotable in a body about one of their supporting bars 3, so that when the shuttle 6 meets an obstacle the plates 1 are pivoted upwardly and through a lever 53 attached to bar 3 and a cantilever 67 contacts of a switch 68 are closed to stop the loom. Plates are normally resiliently biassed downwardly to their guiding position by a spring member 42, and may be lifted up by operating a handle 40. The shuttles may be propelled across the warp by a chain conveyor.
