Abstract

1418185 Blasting G ROMANO F BUONAPROLE and F LODI 6 March 1973 [8 March 1972] 10902/73 Heading B3D [Alao in Divisions A4 and B7] Apparatus for cleaning a submerged surface G comprises a mounting structure 1 with a drive assembly 5 arranged on the structure, the drive being operative to engage the submerged surface and move the structure along the surface. The apparatus is steered by elements 10, 17 (Fig. 8) during movement along the surface and cleaning tool 2 (Fig. 2) or 107 (Fig. 20) is carried by the structure. The cleaning tool is displaceable relative to the structure in a direction transversely to the direction of movement of the structure and parallel to the surface. Propellers 18 driven by motor 19 urge the apparatus against the surface and buoyancy of the structure and floats 3, 4 at least partially balance the weight of the apparatus. The cleaning brushes 2 of Figs. 1 and 2 are replaced in the embodiment of Fig. 20 by a sand-blasting device in the form of nozzles 107 each of which receives sand through flexible conduits 109, the sand being fed by an appropriate fluid.
