Abstract

1418170 Coumarin dyestuffs CIBA-GEIGY AG 23 Feb 1973 [18 April 1972] 9049/73 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula (wherein R 1 and R 2 are optionally substituted alkyl groups or -NR 1 R 2 is a 5- or 6-membered ring; X is O or NH; and R is an organic radical) are prepared (a) by reacting together equimolar quantities of an acid of the formula or an ester or acid chloride thereof, of hydrazine and of an acid RCOOH or an ester or acid chloride thereof in any desired sequence in the presence of a dehydrating agent; or (b) by reacting a 2-hydroxy-4-NR 1 R 2 -benzaldehyde with a 2-R-5-(CH 2 CN)-1,3,4-oxadiazole to give products wherein X is O. Mixtures of products may be obtained or symmetrical dyestuffs of the formula The dyestuffs are suitable for dyeing and print ing leather, silk, wool and synthetic fibres, e.g. acrylics, polyesters, polyurethanes, polyamides, copolymers of dicyanoethylene and vinyl acetate, and cellulose acetates. They may also be used for the spin dyeing of polyamides, polyesters and polyolefins.
