Abstract

1417790 Smoke detectors HOCHIKI KK 15 Nov 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 52982/73 Heading G1A [Also in Division G4] A smoke detector comprises a first pulse generator 1, 2 coupled via an AND gate 9 to a light emitter source 3 e.g. a LED device or a lamp, a light receiver 4 for receiving the radiated light scattered by smoke particles, a second pulse generator 8, 7 having a different oscillation period from that of generator 1, 2 coupled to the receiver 4 and the AND gate 9 so that the source 3 is energized only when both the generators are emitting pulses and the receiver 4 is being energized. The receiver 4 may be a photo-cell or a phototransistor and any incident radiation indicative of smoke is converted into an electric signal for activating an alarm signal circuit 6 via an amplifier 5.
