Abstract

1417388 Treating alkaline sulfite waste pulping liquors TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 31 Aug 1974 38161/74 Heading D2W A process for treating alkaline sulfite waste pulping liquors comprises coking the liquors in the liquid phase under autogeneous pressure so as to form coke, gases, and an aqueous effluent, the pH of the liquors being lowered by at least one pH unit prior to coking by the addition of SO 2 , separating the coke from the effluent, and recovering the latter to form additional pulping liquor.
