Abstract

1416870 Injection moulds BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS Ltd 2 Feb 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 4778/72 Heading B5A An injection mould comprises two parts A, B, each part comprising a central portion 1, 2 and an outer portion 3, 4, the outer portions 3, 4 having means 18, 19 for heating them to the curing temperature of a thermosetting plastics material, and the central portions 1, 2 being provided with means 56, 22, 23, 25, 26 adapted to provide thermostatically controlled liquid circulation to maintain the central portions at a temperature lower than the curing temperature. A sprue 7 and runner 8 are provided in the central portion of the part A. At least one mould cavity 20, 21 is defined in the outer portion of the other part B, and the cavity and the runner each open on to the parting plane of the mould parts when the mould is open. The central portions 1, 2 are insulated from the outer portions by air gaps 27, 28. Runner channels 8 and hot runner channels 9 are of square or rectangular section to retain, the material when the mould is opened. When injection is complete, cut-off pins 10, 11 are forced forward by a plate 17 actuated by a cylinder (not shown). Ejector pins 12 ... 15 are provided for the moulded articles and the sprue.
