Abstract

1413930 Alkanolamines COMMERCIAL SOLVENTS CORP 11 June 1974 25787/74 Heading C2C erythro-Alkanolamines of the general formula (X<SP>2,3</SP> = H, NH 2 , OH, OMe; R = Me, Et) and their hydrochlorides are prepared by oxidizing an erythro-threo compound of the formula (X, X<SP>1</SP> = H, NO 2 , OH, OMe) and catalytically hydrogenating the resulting compound of the formula optionally followed by salt formation. The starting materials are prepared by reacting the corresponding benzaldehyde and nitroalkane.
