Abstract

1413734 Mixing capsule PENNWALT CORP 4 Oct 1973 [16 Oct 1972] 46470/73 Heading B8C A capsule in which two materials 24 and 36 are kept separate but which may be mixed in one part of the capsule comprises a first body part 14 holding one material and, fitting telescopically into its upper end, a second container 18 having a frangible base portion 34 and a retaining flange 38. This second container is closed by a stopper 12 which has an inner "plunger" portion which is a sliding fit within the container so that it may be pushed downwards to generate pressure in the second container which ruptures the frangible portion and allows the contents of the second container to mix with those of the first. In a modification of the device shown in Fig. 5, two such "second" containers are fixed into the opposite ends of the first container, thus providing means of holding and subsequently mixing three materials.
