1412672 Joint making packing; pipe joints CARL FREUDENBERG and G WELSCHEHOLD 1 Feb 1973 [12 Feb 1972] 5125/73 Headings F2B and F2G A ring 17, e.g. of P.T.F.E. for sealing a tube 5 to a tube plate 3 in a heat exchanger includes lips 9, 10 for engaging the tube 5 and two flanges 1, 4, the first of which has a part-conical outer surface 14 and the second of which includes a flat surface 11 for sealingly engaging the tube plate 3. A flat apertured sheet (7), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be interposed between the surfaces 11 and the tube plate 3, and a space 6 accommodates any leakage without loss of flexiblity. The surface 14 may have a cylindrical leading portion (15), Fig. 3 (not shown), for insertion into the hole of the tube plate 3, prior to forcing the ring 17 into sealing position.
